Question by Confuzzled: Where are the police/government auto auctions in New Jersey?
I live in Edison, NJ (Central Jersey). I have looked all over the internet and even called a few local police stations. NOBODY KNOWS. Any help will be appreciated as I have bad credit but enough cash to buy a reasonably prices vehicle. Please give me any info that could be useful. Thanks! Btw… I will give points!

I want to buy a car from an auction and want to know first if I need a license, and second, how to get a dealer’s license.

At the auction, you probably need to register as a bidder, and pay a fee to get the privilege to bid. Check with the auction company.
Check with the city government about the dealer’s license, but that may be state issued. The city will also issue the tax permit for sales tax.

Jeffco occasionally sells theirs on ebay.
Ive never seen a “deal”. They seem to bring close to retail.

I’m looking to buy a car, and I’m wondering how these auctions work. Do you bid against other people trying to get the car as well?

There is a big warehouse full of cars, you have these listed with basic details on a sheet of paper.
you take your time to look round before the auction starts.
you then take your seat in the viewing/bidding area and 1 by 1 the cars will be driven in.
you then bid by raising your card with your auction number on it.
just like a normal auction.
This one of the best ways to get a very cheap car, however there are a lot of bad experiences from auctions as the cars are sold as seen, so you have no comeback if it dies a couple of days later.

I have tried going to their website, as well as, calling them which I have not yet had someone to answer.

It is a bit confusing when you look at their website. You spelled Manheim wrong. Try www2.manheim.com/locations ( i dont work for them and the site is free). The Phoenix lot has dealer auctions every Friday at 10am. Plus other sales but it is not clear what they are offering.
The calendar for November and December is empty but that can’t be true. They will be holding auctions. You are going to have to go in person. There is always someone on the auction lot. And you are not stopped from walking around and looking at the vehicles.

There is a place in Houston, TX that has cheap cars and bikes with very little body damage on them. Catch is, you have to have a dealers license to get these things. Does anybody know how i have to go about getting one?
